HAYWOOD HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION APPLICATION
I agree to abide by the Constitution and By-Laws of the Haywood Home Builders Association, of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States with which it is affiliated, and of the North Carolina Home Builders Association. A remittance of $425 representing my annual membership dues in the Haywood Home Builders Association accompanies this application. Of the amount remitted by me for annual dues, $15 is for a subscription for one year to the BUILDER Magazine, published monthly, and $10 for the Nation's Building News, published biweekly except July, August and December. This amount cannot be deducted from the total amount.
Dues paid to the NCHBA and the NAHB are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. The NCHBA estimates that the non-deductible portion of your 2012 dues - the proportion which is allocable to lobbying - is 39% or $23.40 will not be eligible for deduction as business expense, and $36.60 of the NCHBA dues may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. For affiliate members, amount non-deductible is $1.95 and $3.05 may be deductible.
NAHB for 2011 - 20% of their annual dues is non-deductible. Thus $30 is not deductible and $120.00 may be deductible. NAHB affiliate non-deductible portion $1.00, leaving $4.00 which may be deductible.
